Daily from March 31 until October 15 in 1918, Austria operated the first regularly scheduled airmail route in the world (Wien-Krakau-Lemberg-Kiew). Airmail was classified as express service and forwarded pneumatically whenever this would expedite delivery. Franking 15H postage + 1.50 Kreuzer airmail per 20 grams + 1.00 Kreuzer per flight step (Krakau-Wien). The faint "1712" is the acceptance number.
